Day 5 (February 16, 2026): And just like that, the trip is done. :-(

To mark our last day in Mexico, we decided to get up at 7AM and do a walk to see the sunrise. We did a wonderful 2.7KM walk, after which we enjoyed our last buffet breakfast and omelet. The rest of the day was simply spent by the pool, in the pool, and on the beach. Although we were only allowed two specialty restaurants reservations for our four-night stay, the maitre’d at the seafood restaurant found us a 5:30PM table, and we enjoyed another wonderful dinner. The food has been outstanding throughout our stay, we must say.

At 8:15PM, we checked out (we paid for the night, just so that we would have the room from the 11AM check-out time until this evening) and got a taxi to the airport. The Air Transat inbound flight from Halifax was a half hour late, resulting in our departure being delayed slightly. As I write, we are taxiing for take-off aboard a packed Airbus A321. We should land by 5AM and will hopefully make it home by 6AM, so that Pam can get a couple of hours of rest before heading to school.

It was great to return to Cancun, where we spent our honeymoon 34 years ago. Thank you for reading along with our blog!

Fish just off the beach, in abundance.

During our stay, this ‘Captain Cook’ pirate ship kept going out for tours and coming back in, filled with tourists.

Where we spent our last afternoon.
One last beach view!

David’s appetizer at dinner comprised Mexican fish tacos. Very authentic and very delicious!

The ferry to the ever popular Isla Mujeres (“island of women”) departs from a terminal adjacent to the resort. These statues of women pay homage to the women of Isla Mujeres. Pam fit right in!

The inbound Air Transat A321 from Halifax pulled up to the gate half an hour late.
